Frequently Asked Questions about Domain Transfers
At OverservHost, when you transfer a domain to us, we let you keep the remaining time left on your current registration and give you a free year of registration for each domain you transfer. We charge a flat fee per domain name + an applicable ICANN registration fee.
The typical transfer time for domains is between five to seven days. Transfer times can vary depending on the extension. To learn more about specific domain transfers for country-code Top-level Domains (ccTLDs), see About ccTLDs and select the domain extension you are looking for.
You can transfer a domain at any time, although ICANN prohibits domain transfers within 60 days of registration or prior transfer.
Absolutely. You can track the progress of your transfers by following these steps:
Log in to My Account on OverservHost.
Select Domains and click the Launch or Manage All button.
In the upper left, pull down the Domains menu and click Transfers. There you’ll see the following info for each transfer domain name: Status — This tells you where in the transfer process you are. Hover over the progress bar for any transfer, click the “?” icon, or click the Action Required or Error link that displays for details. Admin Email — This field shows the email address linked with that domain name.
First, you need to unlock each of your domain names you would like to transfer to us from your current registrar. You should be able to do this from within account with them. If you cannot find this, contact your current registrar for details on how they can help you unlock them.
You will want to make sure your email is up to date with your admin contact details, with both your current registrar and us, as this will be used to communicate with you during the transfer process. For some domain extensions, the admin contact is called the registrant contact.
You may need an authorization code (sometimes called a transfer key or EPP code) from your current registrar. This isn’t necessary in all cases, such as when transferring country-code Top-level Domain Names (ccTLDs). If the authorization codes aren’t shown in your account manager, ask your current registrar to email them to you.
At OverservHost, you can purchase bulk domain transfers for up to 500 of your domain names at once, listing each one on a separate line in our bulk domain transfer tool. If the extension you’d like to transfer isn’t listed, you can’t transfer that domain name to us.
Upon expiration of your domain, you will be charged annually to maintain the domain. The price is the then-current annual retail price applicable to the domain.
